The Basic Uniform Requirements
By Dan Davis

This article is a guide on what are the minimum accepted uniform standards for each side of WW2 airsoft in which we portray.
Allied (including British and Commonwealth Countries)
Axis (Germans)
Partisans (Both Allied resistance including all occupied countries and Volkssturm and VolksGrenadiers)

Some countries have been left out and will be added should we do scenarios based on these countries. We mostly do scenarios based in the Western Front/European Theater of Operations. We occasionally dabble in Eastern Front and Pacific Theater scenarios. ETO is the majority of what we do though.

A Basic Allied impression, including British and Commonwealth countries, for games with the Southern WW2 Airsoft Group is as follows:

1. OD/Olive BDU's
2. M1 Helmet (post war, and foreign copies work fine)
3. Boots of any color, Hiking or military style.

Your basis for the uniform will be OD or Olive BDU's. You can find these at companys like Propper: www.epropper.com and Tru Spec. Both brands are available at multiple websites and at most Army Navy Surplus Stores. If your BDU's are not these brands that is just fine as long as they are A. BDU's and B. An Olive/Olive Drab color.

The most recognizable part of your uniform will be your headgear weather it is a helmet or soft cap of some kind. There is no mistaking weather a player is Allied or Axis if they have their sides proper headgear on. For the US troops this means an M1 Helmet, side cap, or Jeep Cap. All three of these can be found cheaply online and at surplus stores. Here is an example of both.

With a little more effort your uniform may look like these two examples. Still using basic OD non period BDU's but with things added like period leggings, web gear and insignia. These things are additional and are not required to play but make you look more like an Allied soldier from WW2.

A Basic Axis/German impression,  for games with the Southern WW2 Airsoft Group is as follows:

1. Grey BDU's
2. German WW2 Helmet (metal or plastic) or a german style field cap
3. Boots of any color, Hiking or military style.

Your basis for the uniform will be grey BDU's. You can find these at companys like Propper: www.epropper.com and Tru Spec. Both brands are available at multiple websites and at most Army Navy Surplus Stores. If your BDU's are not these brands that is just fine as long as they are A. BDU's and B. A grey color.

As with the Allied side The most recognizable part of your uniform will be your headgear weather it is a helmet or soft cap of some kind. There is no mistaking weather a player is Allied or Axis if they have their sides proper headgear on. For the Axis troops this means an M35, 42 or 44 Helmet, field cap or overseas cap. The caps can be found cheaply online and at surplus stores for about 20-30.00 Helmets or generally 80-100.00 shipped. Here is an example of all three.

Also with a little more effort your uniform may look like these two examples. Still using basic grey non period BDU's but with things added like period leggings, web gear and insignia. These things are additional and are not required to play but make you look more like an Allied soldier from WW2.

A Basic Partisan impression,  for games with the Southern WW2 Airsoft Group is as follows:

1. Any color of slacks, no jeans and a button down shirt.
2. Civilian hats of the era(Newsboy style, Fedora, Urshankas) Helmets of Allied or Axis design are also acceptable as long as they corospond to your partisan alliance.
3. Boots of any color, Hiking or military style.
4. Armband of your partisan group. (Provided for you by us. Please return it to us.)

By far the most wallet friendly impression. Most of your uniform is probably in your closet right now. If need be you can raid a local thrift store and walk out with the whole impression for under 10.00. Here is an example I put together for literally 20.00 including the hat.

You still need a hat with this impression but if you are a modern airsofter that wants to try out WW2 on the cheap, or just wants to sling plastic with your friends then this is the way to go.

Do not Bring! Do not Wear!

Some things are forbidden at our WW2 games. Here are a few pictures in list form for you. You will be asked to remove these items or find a hat, helmet or suitable footwear. If you are unable of unwilling to do so you will be asked to leave WITHOUT REFUND.

1. Tennis Shoes of any kind look like crap and are not suitable for running around in the woods.

2. Tactical vest of any kind. These are just two examples.

3. Lack of a hat or helmet. BMX helmets or other silly incarnations are not acceptable. Baldness also not an excuse.

What am I supposed to carry my ammo and water in?
Here are a few examples of what you can carry ammo and water in.
LC1 and other early web gear of any country.
